What’s That Smell?
You’d have to have read my “Our Children Are So Gifted” blog to understand this:
We just got back from Chick-fil-A where they have a little playscape. The playscape is enclosed behind glass walls. Reed and Kayley and I were sitting at our table watching Olivia playing with other younger children. Olivia keeps looking around at the other children as if she’s trying to figure something out. Finally she comes to the door, opens it, and announces, “Mom! It smells like baby bear in here!!!”
We almost made our own baby bears laughing so hard!!

Our Children are so Gifted
Reed and I are both lucky and proud that all six of our children have above average intelligence. Jacqui has been taking tests to earn college credit while she’s still in high school and is a very talented musician. Kayley is taking advanced high school courses and is an extremely talented athlete with hopes of a volleyball scholarship. Lindsay is in the Gifted and Talented Program at school and has a sense of humor and knack for acting that could probably take her far. Noah has never made less than an A and was just accepted into the Gifted and Talented Program and is a most excellent football player…watch out NFL! And Carson can throw an Elmo figure 20 feet across the room, can walk just as far, and is already talking WAY more than any other baby we have had.
You may have noticed that I skipped Olivia.

There’s Progress In Peeville
Believe it or not, we have actually made quite a lot of progress on the potty! I had decided to give up until I am off work this summer and pick up the stressful potty training process again at that time, but Olivia has really started to show an interest. On one of our weekly trips to the bookstore I picked up a copy of “Potty Training for Dummies”. The book suggested not using the smaller potty seats that snap on to the larger potty…like we were doing. Instead, the book says you should purchase your child his/her own little potty chair that sits on the floor next to the big one. Apparently some kids are afraid of the big potty. Maybe that explains why my older kids manage to pee on the walls and all over the seat. Anyway…

A Big Day for Lindsay
Much to Kayley’s disappointment, Lindsay got her braces off today! Lindsay first got her braces in April of ‘06. Here’s what she looked like a week before getting them on…

Here she is this morning before her appointment…

Free, Reduced or Paid?
I don’t often complain about my job, but every now and then it really gets to me and I just have to vent a little. Overall I love my job. I love the work itself, I LOVE the hours, I enjoy my co-workers (some of which I’ve worked with for 6 years now)…I really don’t have a lot of reason to complain. It’s the perfect job for a mom! I work 4 hours a day during the afternoon and half of the time that I’m gone my kids are home with their daddy napping and not stuck in some daycare. I get all the school holidays off and a good part of the summer off. It’s perfect…except for every now and then.
