Carson Update

As of 7:00 p.m. tonight Carson is still vomiting..a lot! I’ve called the after-hours number and the nurse is going to ask the doctor for a 48 hour prescription for Zofran but she doesn’t think he’ll do it. She thinks they’ll want him back in the hospital. We do NOT want to spend another night in the hospital so if anyone is online…send out a little prayer for Carson!!! He can’t keep any food down at all. This has been going on now for 7 days. Please pray for our little boy to get better!

His doctor needs to tack action. This is one time when health care in Panama would be beating what you are getting in the US.

If needed the doctor would come to your house and do something or recommend that the patient go to the hospital. The longest I have waited to see a doctor here was an hour and that was walking in without an appointment.

Yea, the healthcare here sucks and then they rape you over the coals with the bill. They ended up giving us TWO doses of Zofran last night that cost around $35. We have another appointment today to see the doctor at 10:00. This will be another $25 co-pay. Total cost so far for doctor’s is 2-$25 co-pays at the office, one $75 co-pay at the ER plus the medicine and in a week or two I’ve no doubt we’ll get another bill for all the stuff the insurance wouldn’t pay for. And all they tell us is that it’s a virus and can’t be treated. All I’m asking for is enough Zofran to get some food in him!! Give us 2 days worth, not 2 doses!!! He needs nutrition! I’m very frustrated and Carson just keeps losing weight. I’ll let you know what they tell us today.

We also had this virus 3 times a piece. :(

Zofran has gotten much cheaper. In 2005 I was paying $125 per pill. Now it’s down to about $30. Maybe you can have your doc write a prescription for it and then pay out of pocket. It sure beats all the co-pays. Geez, you should move to California. We have a Healthy Children program (if your income is under 6k per month) your kids get treated 100% free.

Wow. Send me the information on that program! I have friends that just moved up there. Maybe we will move to CA too ;)

We only have to pay $2.00 per month per kid. It is one of the only programs not being cut by our dictator/Nazi minded president. If Lane and I had to pay all those co-pays every time we were sick (which is a lot), we would be living on the street. Reed says Carson is feeling better! I am so so glad. When poosie had this virus (like carson, it hit her twice in a row) I had to give her pedialite in a dropper, three drops at a time. It was horrible.
